With the start of the 2007 football season just around the corner, I was wondering what team do you back? I have rooted for the Dallas Cowboys since the days of Danny White, Randy White, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, and Tony Dorsett. I have been through good times and bad times (Quincy Carter) and still enjoy rooting for them. So who is your team?

I'm a Colts fan, but due to where I live, the NFL is always on the backburner.

Once the football season starts, the only thing that matters is the Nebraska Cornhuskers. It's just the way of life around here.

I grew up a Cowboys fan, but once JJ bought them it became a less emotional bond.

You know; I really didn't want him to win the first one, but my respect for him has gone up quite a bit over the years and I wouldn't mind seeing that happen.

Of course, not if my Cowboys are in the way.

Everyone who lives around Detroit has the Lions (being homers) and then a backup (or IMO a REAL NFL team). Mine is St Louis... Been a fan since the SB vs. Pitt... through Eric Dickerson, Marshall Faulk/Warner/Bruce/Holt, and now Steven Jackson/Bulger, etc. :D

I'm not sure that's a ball xD

But they are allowed to carry it across the field with their hands, right?

(like I said, I don't know much about it
It is still confusing to me that it is called football xD)

They run, throw, and kick the ball in Amrican football. It is really a fun sport if you give it a chance and learn soem of the rules. I live for football season!

Which is ironic because most fans don't consider NFL kickers real football players ... *laughs*

As a cowboys fan, I would almost kill for a good kicker. We have lost quite a few games over the past few years due to kickers.

You ought to be feeling pretty good. You think Indy will win again this year?

rar

It's always hard to tell. The Colts have always been on-then-off as a team. Sometimes things go really well for them, then break down at the end of the season. I was actually glad that they had to fight for their position in the playoffs last year, because that meant Manning and Harrison kept playing and didn't get rusty. Two years ago the Colts locked up the home game in the playoffs and the first stringers just didn't play as much as they should have.

This year, I'm not certain what to expect. I certainly hope they'll repeat, but I realize that by no means is it a certain thing.

I'd worry about that defense. While it wasn't gutted, you did lose quite a bit.

Yeah, that's a chronic thing with my team. Defense is almost always lacking, especially as strong as many of the other teams are, offensively. It's something I've just learned to live with.

rar Well, resigning Freeney is going to help... I think it freed up an extra 7 million under the cap. It might have been only 4 mil though, can't quite remember.

They'll pick up some free agents to shore up the holes defense, and the offense should be just as good if not better.

They use to be really good when they played outside but now that they are in the dome, they are not as good

S'about the same here. Texas Longhorns are the insanity. There's no such thing as professional football -- just college. (At least according to this town). There are more college sports stores here than professional stores in places like Denver and Dallas, where the people are fanatic about their pro teams. Its insane. There's even a Longhorn's store in the airport!

I hate college ball.

Denver Broncos for me, San Diego Chargers for my wife and her father -- makes for an interesting Sunday at our house sometimes :)

I know what you mean, I grew up there.

I forgot you said you were living in Austin. Living in Houston, I find them a lot easier to deal with now that I'm not exposed to their sense of entitlement on a daily basis.

I have been a Colt's fan since the late 70's (shows age). Not quite old enough to remember SB III & V other than the old NFL Films shows, so it has been decades of frustration. But these last few years have been sweet. Finally a Super Bowl. Doubly sweet living in New England where all my friends and coworkers are Pats fans. I also suffered through the "Curse of the Bambino" as a Red Sox fan and finally got a World Series as well.:D

Colts rock, Go Sox!

That's what being a real fan is all about, unlike all the fair-weather fans who stop cheering for their teams when things are down (a big problem here in Houston).

No way that this could possibly happen, they both lost way too much talent.
