It would be kinda of cool if we had the ability to look in on other battles as they were being fought. Especially if that battle was between a couple of top ranked players and it had been advertised for a certain day and time, etc. It would certainly dovetail nicely with a gambling aspect.

But at this point, battles dont "happen" they are over instantaniuosly, so its sort of hard to watch it, unless the way battles are displayed are changed.

True, but that's a relatively simple change in the overall scheme of things. There's nothing that say just because the battle has already occurred in computer time, that the text of the battle itself (as you the viewer would see it) has to be displayed instantaneously. This is also something that could be used to make folks feel better about having to wait 2 minutes between battles. If it took 2 minutes (or there about) to display all the text of your last one.

that would defeat the purpose of the timer, because the server would have more of a load.

Not necessarily. Temporal events can be handled browser side. There are ways to do it with either javascript, flash or java. Depends on what the ultimate goal is.

I'm not a fan of javascript, especially java, because despite what you are told, neither of them operate consistently or reliably in browsers. Using Javascript for extra little CSS tricks is fine but using it for an application is a major headache.

Flash on the other hand does impress me but right now, we prefer to keep EverWars using HTML/HTTP.
