I've been thinking about this for a little while and wanted to see what some others thought about it...

A question that I brought up earlier was about the final game's battle interface. I was wondering if it would be as it is now or some type of real-time or turn-based. But this wouldn't really work well because both players would have to be online at the same time.

So what about allowing each player to select which weapons or items are used at what point in the battle sequence? This would add a great deal of strategy to the game. Rather than have a random selection of available weapons, each player could set up a sequence of weapons to be used.

One benefit would be to newer players, because you wouldn't necessarily have to have 10 items in order to maximize your damage. You could have 3 weapons with 3 delay, or 4 with 3 delay and 1 with 5, for example.

Also, players with better weapons might choose to have 9 items with 9 delay in a sequence, but choose to fill the empty slot with a weapon which gives some type of bonus.

You could also allow a player to choose when to use backpack items, such as after 15 or 20 turns for a healing spell.

The cool thing about this is you could also select an "automatic" sequence so that anyone who doesn't like the idea could let the computer choose.

but it really doesn't matter, especially with backpack items because as long as they get used, they do their job. Everything is going to average out by the end of the battle, and because players' defense or strength doesn't decline as the battle rolls on at this point, it doesn't matter when each hit happens.

Yeah, I guess the backpack doesn't really matter.

But with the weapons, wouldn't you always like to use your most powerful weapons (or spells) as soon as the delay timer is over?

I mean, if you went 90 rounds with a really powerful 9-delay weapon, wouldn't you like to use it 10 times?
